Setting up Line Weights

Don't be daunted by the matrix of figures in the Line Weights dialog. Just start by looking at a single scale (column) you are used to working with (eg. 1:100) and work your way up and down the scales from there.

The rule of thumb is: the smaller the scale (as the numbers increase), the lighter the lineweight should get (to preserve clarity).

You may want to reconfigure the lineweights for your overall setup earlier rather than later. No-one needs lineweights of greater than 1 or 2mm, so you may want to redistribute a wider range of lineweights between pens 1-16.

Don't forget to adjust lineweights for annotation objects as well.

Perspective lineweights should not be set too heavy. Do some test prints to check clarity, but it's often useful to set all of the perspective lineweights to a single thickness, for better results in perspective views.
