Keyboard Shortcuts

Learn keyboard shortcuts early and forget AutoCAD shortcuts. Pay particular attention to those relating to Snaps (Settings->Snaps).

Keyboard shortcuts can be configured by customising KeyboardShortcuts.txt, usually found in Revit's Program installation folder (C:\Program Files\Revit Architecture 2008\Program\). Simply put the shortcut of your choice between the appropriate characters, eg.

Sample original line:

; "" menu:"File-Load from Library-Load Family"

Sample customised line:

"FF" menu:"File-Load from Library-Load Family"

You will need to restart Revit after editing these shortcuts.

Given that Revit is a relatively new product, habits are less ingrained within the minds of its users. Therefore it should be more straightforward to implement a single version of the KeyboardShortcuts.txt file without objection from users.
